Moisture content actually is some water that left in the HPMC when it’s been drying, and we can’t dry it at a high temperature for too long, otherwise it will destroy the performance of HPMC, so the moisture content can’t be 0%, but we will try to control it under 5% usually. Now let’s tell you how to test the moisture content of HPMC.

1). Equipment we need:

  1. 0.0001 g analytical balance
analytical balance 0.0001

2. thermostatic drier

3. weighing bottle

2). Testing steps

  1. take down the weight of the container

2. get 5.0000 g of HPMC

get 5.0000 g HPMC

3. put the HPMC into the drier

4. dry it for 120 minutes at 105 degrees

5. cool it down

6. test the temperature

7. take down the weight

8. calculate the moisture content.

As you can see in the picture, the sample’s moisture content is 2.008%. Usually, it’s under 5%, and as long as it’s not too high, it has not too much effect on the use of the application. And please remember to seal the package well if it’s not use out. By the way, if you need our products, just feel free to contact us, and it will be my pleasure to help you.
