If you are in this field, then you will know that viscosity is the most property of HPMC, and sometimes we will distinguish different types just by the viscosity, such as HPMC-200, usually, it means the viscosity is 200,000 cps, and also the higher viscosity of HPMC means the higher water retention, and now let me show you how to test it.

 

1). The equipment we need:

  1. NDJ-4 viscometer

2. 0.0001 g analytical balance

3. 0.01 g analytical balance

2). Testing steps:

  1. weigh out more than 10 g of HPMC
get HPMC more than 10 g

2. dry the sample

3. weigh out 8.0000 g HPMC

get 8.0000 g hpmc

4. get 392.00 g hot water in the beaker

get 392 g hot water

5. test the temperature of the hot water

6. put the sample into the hot water and stir it.

put HPMC into hot water

7. make sure the cold bath is under 10 degrees

cool down solution

8. put the solution in the cold bath and stir

stir

9. heat the solution up to 20 degrees

heat the solution

10. test the temperature of the solution

test the temperature

11. test the viscosity by NDJ-4 viscometer

test the viscometer

12. read the readings on the turntable

read the result
