As you know, HPMC(Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose) is soluble in water, why it forms coagulation when HPMC is put into water, even if you keep stirring, it won’t be soluble anymore, all right, let me tell you why.
Of course, HPMC is soluble in water, this is because when you put HPMC in cold water, the outer cellulose powder would produce viscosity in contact with water quickly, and thicken enough to form a transparent gel, and this gel will prevent the inside cellulose powder to get water to dissolve, and eventually, the inside cellulose powder surrounded by the gel is called the coagulation.
So in order to solve this problem, we developed surface-treated HPMC to meet different needs, and this surface-treated HPMC could disperse in cold water at first, and it starts to build up viscosity after 2 minutes, and the viscosity reaches its maximum after 30 minutes.
So the surface treated HPMC is usually applied in detergent, shampoo, and so on. and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions
