Ash content is another important property of HPMC, because it means the purity of HPMC, the lower the ash content, the better the HPMC, and we wash HPMC more than 3 times in the washing procedure, so usually it’s under 5%. All right, let’s see how we test the ash content below.
1). Equipment we need
- 0.0001 g analytical balance
2. electric furnace
3.muffle furance
4. H2SO4
2). Testing steps
- take down the weight of the crucible
2. get 2.0000 g of the dried HPMC
3. heat the sample
4. test the temperature of the crucible
5. add 2 mL H2SO4 into the crucible
6. shake the crucible
7. heat it again
8. put the crubicle into the Muffle Furance
9. set the temperature up to 750 and heat for 60 minutes
10. cool down
11. take out
12. cool down the crucible
13. test the temperature of the crucible
14. this is the ash left.
15. take down the weight
16. calculate the numbets, and get the result.
The test result is 2.395%, it is under 5%, and this is not the best, we could do better according to your request. If you need low ash content of HPMC, please feel free to contact us.
